Georgia NCLEX Application – Nursing

Step 1: Applying with the Georgia State Board

Georgia NCLEX Application: Resources

  1. Here is the Secretary of State home page. All state board information from this site is taken from their online resources.
  2. This link takes you to the registered nurse page on the Secretary of State website, and this goes to the LPN page. All the information you need can be accessed there.

You can always refer to the above pages for more detailed information.

Your First Task:

Here is the actual online application page.

They will charge you $40. This is the State Board Fee.

Click the application link and apply.

Step 2: Register with Pearson Vue

You should read the NCLEX Candidate bulletin before registering and taking the test. It can be found on the NCSBN NCLEX Portal. From there, you should click on “Register” to register for the NCLEX.

Register for the NCLEX

Quick Fact:

Pearson Vue is the company that hosts the NCLEX. They run the testing centers and the computerized testing facilities.

The NCSBN is the nursing organization who creates the NCLEX questions and regulations.

Pearson Vue is also responsible for sending the Authorization to Test letter. They will only send it after receiving an approval from your State Board of Nursing (which you applied to in Step 1).

The registration fee will be $200 for students in the U.S.

Step 3: Background Check and Fingerprint

This link takes you to the Secretary of State’s Background Check/Fingerprint Instructions. After reading the instructions closely, choose a service location and proceed.

The charge for these services is usually around $50.

Step 4: Receive your Authorization to Test (ATT) and Schedule your NCLEX Exam

You’ve successfully completed the dual application process. If your Board of Nursing application has been approved, your ATT will arrive by e-mail within 2 weeks after you register.

Remember, after you turn in all the materials, your State Board of Nursing (from Step 1) sends approval to Pearson Vue (from Step 2). Pearson Vue then sends the Authorization to Test. You can check the status of both applications.

Check the status of your $40 online application with the Georgia Secretary of State.

Once your Authorization to Test letter arrives, you can schedule your test from the Pearson Vue website.

If you need to check the status of your registration with Pearson Vue, or have ANY QUESTIONS at all, refer to the candidate bulletin.
